My name is Kristen Self, mommy of three and wife to Chris "Honey" Self. I used to think I was defined by where I worked, what I wore, and who I was friends with. Now I know nothing is more rewarding then staying home with my kids, lovin my honey, working on my photography, and following the word of my savior. I hope you will follow the exciting, blessed and sometimes sad events that come though this world around me. Enjoy all of the photos provided by myself. Look forward to reading all of your feedback as well.
My dedicated husband, soul mate, and father to our babies. Met in 1989,married since 2003, our happiness is beyond anything I could have ever imagined. Honey is the most virtuous man on Earth, he has developed patience and a terrific work ethic. I know this love of ours will continue to grow and blossom until we are brought before our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Our 1st born baby is the life of the party, he excels in every sport he plays, LOVES the 2nd grade and may be a little bit of a Mama’s boy. Can you blame the kid, he has been joined at my hip since August of '00.
Olivia is the princess and the only baby girl in the house. When the ball gown comes off she loves sports, dancing and this lil lady can throw a tea party like no other. We were blessed with her big baby blues in March of '05.
The baby of the family, he is so sweet, a dancer, and singer. We are loving all of the new words he is learning and watching him explore everything. Liam completed our family in October 2007.

Our garden will soon be ready to harvest. I started planting back in March and continued into April depending on the seed type.
We have sweet corn, carrots, seedless watermelons, cherry tomatoes, green bell peppers, sun flowers and big max pumpkins. This has been a MUCH bigger job than anticipated. Getting the soil ready allow took me three days. This is my first garden so it took plenty of research on my part.
If you are my neighbor, you will know when we harvest, hope you like watermelon!
The Starbucks tumbler is made of double-walled hard clear plastic which keeps your drink cold and your hands dry. THIS CUP DOES NOT SWEAT! It is reusable with a screw on lid and a rubber seal so there will be no leaking! It has a reusable thick green plastic straw with a notch toward the bottom so it doesn't fall out. I am so in love with it, the amount of drinks I have already had in it are uncountable. Most Starbucks are sold out but some are getting in shipments soon! Unfortunately the jerks on Ebay are selling the cups for upwards of $49.99. I believe the cup originally retailed for around $12. If my local Starbucks gets anymore in I will purchase one for a giveaway! Cross your fingers ladies…
Has anyone tried the Crystal Light Natural Peach Mango Green Tea? Delicious!I have always been a peach tea drinker but this one is more refreshing. Less than 5 calories per serving is a + along with the 99% caffeine free aspect.
Stay cool, Kristen
P.S. Mom thank you for my wonderful cup! Nana and Papa we are loving all of the juicy lemons off of your trees. Thanks.
A lot of you have emailed or commented to ask if Chris and I are still reading The Love Dare and how it was going.
The Love Dare Challenge, a journey we are still traveling, encountered some sharp turns and steep hills but we are becoming more knowledgeable about the air bags of unconditional love. I am starting to realize I can’t just follow my heart, I need to lead it.
We have both learned to be more thoughtful, a characteristic that a woman longs for her man to have. When a woman speaks a wise man listens right?
Realizing that life is like a marathon, not a sprint. Meaning that I have to prioritize, balance and pace myself.
One day that really caught my attention was about good 1st impressions. Simply greeting your spouse in the morning, when arriving home from work, or on the phone carries a surprising significance. How do you greet your friends, coworkers, or neighbors? How about acquaintances or those you meet in public? When someone communicates that they are glad to see you, your personal self worth increases. You instantly feel more loved and valued.
I always knew marriages ended but never did I think it would be a couple we new and loved. In the last year alone we have witnessed close couples separate, even divorce and have affairs. Every couple goes through storms but not every couple survives them. Please don’t think reading this book or living out these “dares” will drive all conflict from your marriage. Great marriages are not created by people who never hurt each other but by people who choose to keep “no record of wrongs” (1 Corinthians 13:5)
A wonderful “challenge” to all of you is to call your spouse at work today without any other agenda but to ask how he/she is doing and if there is anything you can do for them.
I stress that if you have not gone out to get this book DO IT! I have not written in our copy and hope to pass it on to another couple. I will hold a giveaway once we complete it. Order the book now for as little as $8.79!
If two lie down together they keep warm ,but how can one be warm alone? - Ecclesiastes 4:11

I always thought those newborn baby tee's you get at the hospital were so boring, just not cutsie enough for my taste. SO... I embellished 3 newborn baby boy wrap over tees. One has a small pocket with a sewn in satin handkerchief, one has a chenille star with faux suede trim, and the last one has a polka dot tie sew on. All are washable and can be dried.
The socks are by Bella, a very soft cashmere blend.
Can't you just see your new little guy in one of these tees and little pair of socks? So stinkin adorable...Would make a great baby gift too.
Giveaway starts today, last entry is at 11:59 5/21 a winner will be picked by random draw on Friday the 22nd. I will ship anywhere with in the US.

We had an eventful evening last night…I started cooking at noon, didn't eat lunch to ensure I would be really hungry for dinner. We were having a Cinco De Mayo get together at 6pm, 5:30 went to neighbors (who just delivered) to drop off enchiladas, Olivia and Jay came with me to see baby Jack. We got back home at 6, people started arriving, Olivia was jumping from the kids table onto the sectional, back and forth, back and forth. I said about 10 x’s “Olivia stop jumping, sit on your bottom please.“ On her last a jump at 6:15 she landed face first on a compartment built in the sectional that holds remotes. It also serves as a arm rest, covered with leather and cushion. She split open her eye lid, not brow of course. My sister and I jumped in the car and headed to the hospital. Three hospitals later we were at Banner Desert Children's in Mesa Arizona. No one wanted to stitch the eye lid due to it being so complicated and dangerous. We got there at 7:30...it was packed of course. At this point I already had a migraine from not eating and stressing over feeling bad for her. Excedrin had not touched it, I was forced to eat a Snickers bar. We huddled over in a corner thinking about the enchiladas, I noticed everyone was in masks due to the swine flu. The check in desk was not too far from us, you would hear parents come in and say “My baby has had a runny nose since Saturday.” Why the heck are you at the ER…call your doctor lady. A mom approached the counter and says "my little boy hit his nose earlier today, it did not bleed but it still looks red." They check in and she takes a seat, her little boy ran around playing with a dump truck on the floor.
*NOTE TO PARENTS IF YOUR CHILD IS WELL ENOUGH TO KICK YOU, RUN, ROLL ACROSS THE WAITING ROOM FLOOR WHERE ANOTHER CHILD JUST THREW UP, EAT A BAG OF CHEETOS, OR DRINK A 12OZ BABY BOTTLE OF STRAWBERRY MILK THEY ARE NOT SICK ENOUGH TO BE HERE!*
Before I knew it 9 pm came around and we had not even been triaged yet. My sisters boyfriend came and picked her up, our company had gone home and Chris was cleaning the kitchen and worrying about Olivia.
*SHOUT OUT TO THE MOM WHO TRIED TO GET IN FASTER BY SAYING HER BABY WAS RUNNING A 109DEGREE TEMP AT HOME.*
By Midnight I had some lady sitting next to me with her 2 year old little boy (whose eyes were a little red, she thought he may have been around too much 2nd hand smoke) Again I say, why the heck are you here? The young boy proceeded to pick the dead skin off of his mother's heels and throw it at people coming in while she watched.
1am they finally decide to call her back, only to tape a cotton ball on her eye with some numbing gel. Olivia was ticked at this point because they did not even have rainbow cotton balls! Her mama was ticked too plus almost out of sanitizer.
Against my better judgment I started talking to a few people in the waiting room, some had been there since noon. Four Advil, rice cakes, and a Diet Coke later my headache seemed to be easing up. If the lady across from me pulled one more of those small bags of MacDonald’s peanuts our of her purse I was asking her for one. (How often and how many Sundaes do you eat to collect such an abundance?) I saw her eying the rice cakes, I asked her if she had anymore sundae peanuts, I was not giving up a rice cake for free. She was plain out…..I continued eating the last three rice cakes while she watched on.
2:30 AM they called Olivia back again numbed her up and she received 7 stitches. We were discharged and home at 3, showered and in bed asleep by 3:30. I am still giving her Tylenol but over all I think she is feeling okay and proud of her wound.
Looks like the Get Well Fairy will be making a visit tonight!
Evidently lemonade stands are not effected by the economy. Jalen set up his stand (compliments of Sunkist.com) with Olivia and a few of his friends Saturday afternoon for about 1.5 hours. Selling out of lemonade at $.50 per glass brought in over $24. He was nice enough to split the earnings with Olivia. It has already been burning a whole in his pocket. They are trying to save it to use at the Diamondbacks game on Friday night. If you are going to be there Jalen will be running the Hot Dog race on top of the dugout during the 6th inning. More to come later!
Miss Ava Grace and sweet Max (my niece and nephew) got to come over and play Friday. After napping we made ice cream cone cupcakes and played outside. An ice cream cone cupcake would not be complete with out a candle, I asked the girls what we were celebrating and Olivia simply stated "being all together." Love it!
Is than an angel in our garden? No it's baby girl! Note that it is 90 out and she insisted on wearing her suede knee boots out to play.
I hope you and yours are richly blessed this week.
