Do Not Disturb!

Chris snuck in and took this of Liam a few nights back, I just love it!

Missing in Action!

Okay......Papa Hancock is HOME and so is Grandma Rolinger! Papa is resting, recovering and doing very well. He will have his staples removed on Friday and visit the Dr. for a follow-up next week.
Grandma is on new medication, her heart is in regular sinus rhythm and she is doing well. Hopefully she is getting all of the rest she needs....

I can't thank you all enough for all of the prayers, emails and sweet comments. It gets you though the days the enemy is bringing you down.

There are a lot of exciting giveaways to come and new updates. Some exciting things are happening this week and I hope to share them with you in the future.

Have a blessed weekend and a safe holiday soon approaching.

We Heart Dad!

The kids and I created a "We Heart Dad" sign on Friday....okay okay we copied it from Amy Fraughton's kids. (Great idea Fraughton's, we drove by and you inspired us!)
Happy Father's Day to all of the wonderful Daddies out there! Hope you do nothing but relax and enjoy yourselves.
We are off to spend the day at at J & J's out in Queen Creek, we are excited to see the kids!
Today is also Chris's Dad, Ben's birthday. Happy Birthday Papa Ben!

One more admitted...

Saturday morning Grandma Rolinger was admitted to Banner Baywood Hospital. Grandma is Dad's mom, Mary. Grandma had called mom explaining some issues with her heart and blood pressure. Mom instructed Uncle David to take Grandma in to Baywood right away. We are not sure of much at this point other than Dr.'s are trying to regulate things with her heart via medications. We will know more on Monday once another Dr. sees her.
As you are praying for Papa today can you throw one in for Grandma? Unfortunately they are at different hospitals 35+miles apart. Too bad we could not just get rooms next to each other at the same place.
The HUGE plus about Grandma being at Baywood is that Tara Rolinger (cousin/RN) works there!!! Tara will make sure Grandma gets top care and a big private room!

Thank you all for loving and praying for my family though all of the tough times. Your prayers are felt and appreciated.

Turn of events....

The Sunflowers are from our garden, I took them down to Papa's room. I wanted to make sure he did not miss the big ones...the picture just does not show how huge they really are.

Here is a update Papa....
On Monday, June 15th he was not doing well....I'll spare you the details....Tuesday he returned to the surgeon's office for follow-up. At this time they felt that he probably was having some internal bleeding and would need to be readmitted for a blood transfusion. His lab results revealed that he was not anemic, but his white blood cell was elevated indicating some type of infection and/or inflammation. A CT Scan was ordered for the following morning and within an hour or so the surgeon called informing us that Papa needed to return to the hospital to rule out a perforated bowel. We arrived at the ER at 3:30 pm and at 7:30 Papa was taken into the OR for an exploratory laparotomy (one big look see in layman's terms) The surgeons quickly identified the problem... a piece of the small intestine had slipped through one of the small incisions in the abdominal muscle wall causing a blockage (picture a kinked hose). Fortunately the bowel still had a good blood supply, no resecting would be required and the surgeons were able to "push it back where it belonged".
The renal cancer is totally unrelated to the lymphoma that Papa was diagnosed with earlier this year. But if it had not been for that one enlarged lymph node in Papa's neck and the many diagnostic tests that followed, the renal cancer would have gone undiagnosed and his prognosis would be much different today.
I visited with Papa last night and he has his regular voice back and seems to be doing much better. Chris and Jalen have taken Nana to the hospital this morning. Uncle Brett and Aunt Janet have been generous enough to get Nana another few nights at the hotel where Aunt Deb and Mom got her when Papa had his first surgery.
We serve an awesome God who is never surprised by the turn of events, even though we might be. He is the Great Physician who is able to do all we can ask or imagine! Thanks you all for you prayers....

Not showing improvement, please pray...

I am writing this post to request all of my faith readers to please pray for Papa Jim. As you may know he had his kidney removed on the 8th, a week ago Monday.

Without going into lengthy details.... He will undergo a CT Scan this afternoon to determine if there is internal bleeding, if the findings are what the Dr.'s are suspecting he will need a blood transfusion.

We also received news back from the Oncologist, Papa unfortunately does have Renal Cancer (Kidney Cancer) along with Lymphoma.

Remember that Jesus has given us His authority to heal, so it is not about you or the sick person's faith or your ability to pray well -- it is about what He has already accomplished. I don't fully understand all aspects of praying for someone with cancer yet, but I am getting the impression that this storm will require multiple prayer sessions. Keep praying for him by asking God to come and abide on Papa with His healing anointing.

Our Great and Mighty God is still the LORD our healer.

Garden update 6-15-09

Shout out to the makers of Miracle Grow! Our garden is going out of control, literally!

We have watermelons! I see about 12 so far, sure there are more are under the thick leaves but I am too scared to reach under.

If there was a biggest sunflower contest this puppy would have to hold a blue ribbon! I may have to send in a email to Genus, stands about 8 feet tall..... it only has to grow an additional 17 ft to break the record!

Look at this now little 4LB pumpkin, it is a Big Max so I am trying to figure out how we will move it once we harvest. Maybe I will have to hold a weight guess contest!

A Doll or Little April Rose?

Here is the doll head from Bountiful Baby, they sell doll kits to look like "real babies" Avery is the name of this doll....

Here is the picture of April Rose on the day she was "born" Sunday, June 7th.

What do you think? Real or Fake?

Little April Rose A FAKE, A HOAX, A SCAM!

As most of you out in the blog world have discovered over the last 24 hours Little April Rose was a scam. A sad hoax Beccah Rose Beushausen mislead her followers to believe she was pregnant with little April Rose who had been diagnosed with Trisomy 13. Little April Rose's blog has been removed along with Beccah's art website and Facebook account. For all of the details I recommend going to the Gibson Twins Blog , she has allot of info.

It is upsetting that we have all prayed for "B", "D", and "Little April Rose" We need to pray for ALL involved especially Beccah, author of Little April Rose.

Be careful what you read in the blog world, not everyone can be trusted.

One Kidney Lighter....

Photo of Papa just before he went into surgery!

First of all I wanted to express my deepest gratitude towards all of you. Thank you for praying and thinking of Papa Jim Hancock and the rest of our family today! Thanks for your continued prayers as his journey continues.

We arrived at Saint Joseph's in Phoenix at about 8:20am and they checked Papa in, they took him back to pre op where he waited...

and waited...

and waited...

At about noon the surgery started! After a 600 piece jigsaw puzzle was completed, three magazines were read and 5 potty breaks taken..... his Dr. came out to talk to Nana.

4:30 the operation was complete, the kidney and the mass had been removed successfully. Papa was getting into the recovery room!!

8:30 Papa finally got to his room, he has been in A LOT of pain "it hurts like hell!" were his exact words. Please pray for his pain to subside and his recovery to be speedy.

We will know more once the pathology report comes back in a week or two. Praise the Lord! He is so good, isn't he?

June 9th~Papa is still in allot of pain today and will be attempting to get out of bed. Nana has not left his bedside except to catch some ZZZ's at the hotel next to the hospital. I will keep you all updated.

Papa's Surgery...

The last few weeks have consisted of more tests and preparations for Papa’s surgery. Monday June 8th Papa Jim will go into St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix, AZ. Dr.’s will be removing the mass and part or all of the left kidney. Mom, Nana, myself and of course the guest of honor will be heading down to St. Joe’s in the early hours and the surgery is scheduled to begin in the afternoon and last a few hours. Papa should be in the hospital 2 or 3 days with a 6 week recovery time. The oncologist reassured us that the lymphoma was low grade and very treatable, and no rush to start treatment.

Please pray this with me….Dear Lord, Give the surgeons/doctors all of the knowledge and guidance they need to be successful. Sustain Papa by Your grace that his strength and courage may not fail; Heal him according to Your will. Fill Papa’s heart with faith. Be near him in times of weakness and pain. Lord, hear our prayer, for we give You praise, honor, glory and thanks.

Amen.

I will be on tomorrow to post an update once I arrive home. Thank you ahead of time for once again loving and praying for my family during this time.
