My name is Kristen Self, mommy of three and wife to Chris "Honey" Self. I used to think I was defined by where I worked, what I wore, and who I was friends with. Now I know nothing is more rewarding then staying home with my kids, lovin my honey, working on my photography, and following the word of my savior. I hope you will follow the exciting, blessed and sometimes sad events that come though this world around me. Enjoy all of the photos provided by myself. Look forward to reading all of your feedback as well.
My dedicated husband, soul mate, and father to our babies. Met in 1989,married since 2003, our happiness is beyond anything I could have ever imagined. Honey is the most virtuous man on Earth, he has developed patience and a terrific work ethic. I know this love of ours will continue to grow and blossom until we are brought before our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Our 1st born baby is the life of the party, he excels in every sport he plays, LOVES the 2nd grade and may be a little bit of a Mama’s boy. Can you blame the kid, he has been joined at my hip since August of '00.
Olivia is the princess and the only baby girl in the house. When the ball gown comes off she loves sports, dancing and this lil lady can throw a tea party like no other. We were blessed with her big baby blues in March of '05.
The baby of the family, he is so sweet, a dancer, and singer. We are loving all of the new words he is learning and watching him explore everything. Liam completed our family in October 2007.

Since I don't have enough to do I started making sugar cookies to order. They have been a hit at family birthday parties, showers, and family get togethers. I have had a few orders placed and enjoy making them. I am excited to make them for Jalen's football team, Liam's birthday party, and all of the upcoming Holiday's. I may be in a little over my head in the next few months but it should be fun. I posted the recipe below in case anyone would like to make sugar cookies for the Holiday's. The icing is the "real secret" sorry ladies!
Ingredients: 1 1/2 cups butter, softened 2 cups white sugar 4 eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 5 cups all-purpose flour 2 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon salt In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour (or overnight). Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Roll out dough on floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter. Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 6 to 8 minutes in preheated oven. Cool completely.
I have been making diaper cakes for a few years now for friends and family members. I started taking orders a few months ago. The usually include at least 100+ size 1 diapers. The stuff that I put on them is off of the new moms registry. It makes it more personal plus I know it is stuff she will use. I have done them according to shower colors or theme upon request. It has been so much fun shopping for all of the goodies and putting them together. I have been so please with the response I have been receiving. They have made great center pieces for the buffet, gift table, or random decor for the shower. I went ahead and posted my most resent photos for you to get an idea of what they look like.
Jalen decided to sign up for Pop Warner football this season. Soccer is usually his sport of choice so this has been a real challenge for him, thus far. #46 is used to knowing exactly how to play the game and score, not the case for football. Jalen is enjoying himself and learning allot so that is what matters. During the first three weeks of conditioning (beginning of August) we had to have him at practice 5 times per week. Practice ran from 6pm- 8:30pm, very hard considering the first week of conditioning was also the first week of school. Jalen ended up getting through it without a problem. As far as Chris and I go we were exhausted and hardly saw each other for three weeks.
Now that the season is half way over he has practice on Monday and Wednesdays, Saturdays are game days! Hope you can make it out to a game sometime. Thanks to those of you that have come out to support our little Stud Muffin. I have to express my gratitude towards my parents who have watched Liam for us the past few Saturdays. Due to the heat he has only made it out to the first game of the season. The season runs August though November.
When I told Chris I was starting a family blog he exact words where "I never thought I would hear that come out of your mouth." I guess I am pretty surprised with myself too. I hope you enjoy following our journey on raising our children to be successful, being a loving married christian couple, and my adventures as a stay at home mom. There is a never a dull moment in the Self home!
